BOTOX® Cosmetic & Dermal Filler Injections
in Hedgesville, WV
What are Dermal Fillers?
Fillers are an injectable solution of hyaluronic acid that adds volume to patients' skin. We utilize the Juvederm XC line of HA fillers. They offer a range of textures that are appropriate for a variety of placement locations and techniques and include anesthetic in the solution to provide extra comfort throughout the procedure. Hyaluronic acid promotes stimulation of moisture into the lower skin layers and promotes the production of your body's own natural collagen, meaning with repeated treatment, the rebound of tissues to a wrinkled state will become less and less over time, requiring fewer treatments, maintaining a youthful, healthy look.
What do Botox and Dermal Fillers treat?
Botox and fillers are used to treat the fine lines and wrinkles associated with the overuse of muscles of facial expression and skin volume and collagen loss that happens with age. Botox works to limit the muscle activity that causes permanent wrinkles, reversing their appearance and stopping the process that makes them worse. Fillers treat wrinkles and fine lines caused by a loss of collagen support and the volume of healthy skin that happens over time.
Candidates for Botox and Dermal Filler Injections
Anyone who is unhappy with the formation of fine lines and wrinkles is a potential candidate for botox or filler injections. Certain clotting disorders and genetic diseases can limit a patient's candidacy for these procedures. The best way to determine if our services are right for you is to schedule a consultation to discuss treatment with the doctor.
Are There any Risks to Injectables?
Our cosmetic injectables are among the safest materials we use. The action of the materials are reversed naturally by the body over time and can be reversed pharmacologically in the event of a temporary adverse event. However, these adverse events are very rare. Nevertheless, case selection is important in order to determine whether a patient is likely to benefit from the treatments.
Recovery after Botox or Dermal Filler Injections
There is typically some bruising following botox and filler treatments. This bruising can be limited by an anti-inflammatory ointment provided at the time of treatment and by following the doctor's postoperative instructions. While filler treatments show immediate results, the subsiding natural inflammation that occurs through the first couple days after the treatment can cause a rebound of up to 30% of the initial volume increase seen at the time of treatment. Likewise, botox has a delayed onset, which does not produce immediate results. However, results will be noticed beginning three days following and be at their maximum effect one week following treatment.
